100 Books Before Graduation Teen Reading Challenge

Did you know that we have a new teen reading challenge that's all year round?

100 Books Before Graduation is a multi-year reading challenge to encourage teens ages 13 to 18 to read 100 books before they graduate from high school! We know that the teen years can get super busy and hectic with the millions of other things you have going on, so this program incentivizes a continued love of reading for fun by allowing you to earn prizes throughout your reading journey over the years!

Complete this mission by registering on ReadSquared for this program. And the best part?  Any  books you log this summer will count towards this 100-book reading challenge too!

2025 Color Challenge

Add some color to your summer with this literary challenge! To fulfill the requirements of this challenge, you’ll need to read a book for each color listed (6 in total). Each book should correspond to 1 or more of the keywords associated with that color. Completing this challenge will give you 10 extra points toward the adult summer reading challenge.
(And yes, you can still include these books on your regular activity log!).

Teen Advisory Board

To complete this mission, attend at least 3 of the summer TAB meetings.

Are you looking for volunteer hours?

Do you want a say in what events the library has & what books we put on the teen shelves??

Have an idea for a program you'd like to see (or even help run!) for you and your friends? Then come join our Teen Advisory Board!!

TAB is the perfect place for you to make a difference here at your library, get involved in your community, and let your voice be heard!  Attendees will work with the Teen Librarian to share their ideas and get involved with services and programs offered at the library.  You'll brainstorm ideas for programming, displays, book orders, social media promotions, and more!

Over the summer we'll have weekly meetings to share new ideas, check in with how things are going, and assist with any other tasks needed around the library that week.  New members are always welcome.  And you can receive volunteer credit just by showing up and participating!

Teen services is all about YOU, the teens... Your input is important to us!! Please keep in mind that this program is for TEENS to talk about TEEN things, so bring age-appropriate ideas.

*Registration is required.

The Crayon Initiative

To complete this mission, donate whatever old crayons you have lying around!

What is the Crayon Initiative?

"The Crayon Initiative was born one night when Bryan Ware and his family went out for dinner. While his boys sat coloring on the menu, Bryan couldn't help but wonder where restaurant crayons end up, when all the people go home. Turns out, it’s the landfill—making a big waxy mess that never biodegrades. Why, Bryan thought, couldn’t they be re-purposed to create more joy in the world? He took the crayons home and got busy—figuring out the art of collecting and sorting old crayons, melting them down, and remanufacturing them in a bright, clean, paper-free form. Consulting an occupational therapist, he even gave his new crayons a unique design—large and three-sided, not round—so they’re easy for kids to grip and can’t roll off hospital trays. Finally, he crafted a network for sending free crayons to kids in hospitals all over the country."

Donations will be accepted all summer long (June 16th-August 15th).

Note for Teens: Students looking for community service hours this summer can receive 30 minutes of service credit for making a donation.
